today, i worked the crossword in the time magazine in ink. i’ve found the sunday crossword difficult in the past, and had no reason to expect perfection. i’m also somewhat aggressive in my crossword style, filling in reasonable guesses before checking against crossing clues. i had to cross out a few words. i fully expected this outcome, and could have gotten a pencil, with little effort, from my bag.

and yet i did the crossword in pen. draw conclusions as you will.
